Disney Cruise Line has released its itineraries for autumn 2027 and spring 2028, and the headline is a return to New York City. The Disney Wish will arrive in late September 2027, following the ship’s inaugural season in Europe, and will operate seven sailings of four to seven nights from the city. Those itineraries run to Bermuda, Canada and New England, the three markets that a New York homeport serves most naturally in the autumn. The Wish is one of the line’s newest and largest ships, which makes its assignment to a seasonal North American homeport a notable commitment of capacity.
New York is a demanding homeport. Berth availability in Manhattan and Brooklyn is limited and expensive, and the season is short, bounded by weather at both ends. What the city offers in return is an enormous catchment of passengers who can reach the ship without flying, which removes the single largest cost and complication of a family cruise. For a line whose customers travel in groups of four or more, that drive-to-port advantage is worth a great deal.
Elsewhere in the deployment, Disney Magic will operate two fourteen-night Panama Canal repositioning cruises. In November the ship sails from San Diego to Galveston with a maiden call at Fuerte Amador near Panama City, and in March it reverses the route from Galveston to San Diego with a maiden call at Colon. From November 2027, three Wish Class ships will sail from Port Canaveral, with Disney Destiny home porting there for the first time on three to seven night Bahamas and Western Caribbean itineraries after opening the season in Fort Lauderdale.
Booking opens in stages, as it usually does for this line. Select Castaway Club members, Disney’s repeat-guest programme, can book from 31 August 2026, with general booking following on 8 September. The tiered window matters more here than with most cruise lines, because the highest-demand sailings, school holidays and the shorter New York departures among them, can be substantially sold before general booking opens. Castaway Club tiers are determined by how many previous Disney cruises a guest has completed, so the earliest access goes to the most frequent repeat customers. Travellers without that status may find the most popular dates constrained by the time general booking opens on 8 September.
