Hawker Feasts by Day, a Skypark Infinity Pool by Night — A 4-Day Singapore Itinerary

⚑ Report

A 4-day introduction to Singapore built around two very different bases: a converted 1929 shophouse in Chinatown and a splurge night at Marina Bay Sands. Expect hawker-stall chicken rice, two climate-controlled domes at Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa’s theme parks, and a rooftop infinity pool 57 floors above the bay — with real hotels, ticketed sights, and 2026 prices for every stop.

Day 1Arrival — A Chinatown Hawker Feast

Touch down at Changi Airport, ride the driverless MRT straight into Chinatown, and end the day working through a hawker centre that’s been serving since the 1950s.

🚄 MRT from Changi Airport to Chinatown

~30 minutes · S$2.50 one-way

Singapore’s MRT runs direct from the airport’s own station to Chinatown on the East-West and Downtown lines. Tap in with a contactless card or phone and skip the taxi queue entirely — it’s often faster than driving in rush-hour traffic.

🛎 Check-In: Hotel 1929

2 nights · from S$210/night

A converted 1929 shophouse on Keong Saik Road turned into a design-forward boutique hotel, with vintage Eames and Panton furniture in rooms barely bigger than the original shophouse footprint. Ask for a room with the five-foot-way balcony for the best morning light.

🍽 Dinner: Maxwell Food Centre

~S$6/plate · cash preferred

Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice has anchored this 1950s hawker hall for decades, with a queue that rarely lets up — order the whole chicken sliced over fragrant rice and don’t skip the chilli-ginger sauce on the side. Circle the rest of the hall for char kway teow and oyster omelette before you’re full.

📸 Evening Stroll: Ann Siang Hill & Club Street

Free · allow 1 hour

A steep lane of restored 1900s shophouses turned into wine bars and design studios, glowing under strings of lights once the sun goes down. It’s a five-minute walk from Hotel 1929 and the easiest way to see Chinatown’s quieter, more residential side.

Day 2Marina Bay & the Gardens by the Bay Domes

A full day around Marina Bay: the Merlion at sunrise, two climate-controlled domes packed with plants from six continents, and Supertree Grove lit up after dark.

📸 Merlion Park & Marina Bay Waterfront

Free · allow 1 hour

Singapore’s half-lion, half-fish mascot spouts water across the bay toward the Marina Bay Sands skyline, with the colonial-era Fullerton Hotel behind it. Come early to beat the tour-bus crowds and catch the towers still glowing in morning light.

🌳 Gardens by the Bay: Cloud Forest & Flower Dome

~2.5 hours · S$32 adult combo

The Cloud Forest dome hides a 35-metre indoor waterfall behind a mountain of tropical planting, while the Flower Dome next door cycles through seasonal displays from Mediterranean groves to Californian desert. Go for the Cloud Forest first — it gets busy by early afternoon.

🛎 Check-In: Marina Bay Sands

1 night · from S$680/night

Three 55-storey towers topped by the SkyPark, a 150-metre infinity pool suspended 57 floors above the bay that’s become one of the most photographed hotel pools on earth. Book a Deluxe Room or above for guaranteed pool access, and head up after 5pm when the crowds thin and the light turns gold.

Marina Bay Sands · www.marinabaysands.com

🍽 Dinner: Satay by the Bay

~S$20/person · walk-in, cash & card

A casual open-air hawker cluster inside the Gardens by the Bay grounds, grilling satay skewers to order alongside laksa and rojak stalls — the easy, unpretentious counterpoint to a night in a five-star tower. Grab a table facing the Supertrees for the Garden Rhapsody show as a second act.

Day 4Departure — One Last Rain Vortex

A final walk through a heritage housing estate, then Jewel Changi’s indoor waterfall on the way to the gate.

📸 Tiong Bahru Morning Walk

Free · allow 1.5 hours

Singapore’s oldest public housing estate, all curved Art Deco balconies and 1930s stairwells, now filled with independent bakeries and bookshops. Start at Tiong Bahru Bakery for a kouign-amann, then wander the estate’s namesake “airplane” block before checkout.

🚕 Transfer to Changi Airport

~25 minutes · S$25–30 taxi/Grab

Grab, Southeast Asia’s ride-hailing app, or a metered taxi is the easiest way to the airport with luggage — book ahead during evening rush hour. The MRT works too for light packers, changing once at Tanah Merah.

🌊 Jewel Changi Airport

Free to view · allow 1 hour

The world’s tallest indoor waterfall drops 40 metres through a five-story dome built right into the airport terminal, ringed by a canopy park and hundreds of shops. Arrive with time to spare before your flight — it’s easy to lose an hour just looking up.
