IHG’s Ruby brand has made its French debut with the opening of Ruby Lilou in Marseille, announced on October 5. The 237-room hotel sits between the Old Port and La Joliette, close to Le Panier, with the Joliette metro station about three minutes away on foot.
The design leans on the sea. Rooms come in four categories named Nest, Cosy, Lovely and Wow, with yacht-inspired interiors, oversized beds and walk-in rainfall showers. Lavender, sun-bleached stone and sea tones are layered with bold patterns, and the public spaces include a 24-hour bar and café plus a 300-square-metre rooftop terrace with views toward the Mediterranean.
The surprise is the workspace. Ruby Yani Workspace, the brand’s first coworking operation in France, offers more than 126 flexible workstations along with private offices and meeting rooms. Memberships start at 60 euros a month and day passes at 30 euros, so visitors and locals can use it alongside hotel guests.
Rates start from 130 euros a night for single occupancy, breakfast included. Ruby was founded in Germany in 2013, was acquired by IHG in 2025, and counts 42 hotels open or in the pipeline, mostly in major European cities. The group says it is aiming for more than 120 hotels within a decade.
