Alaska Quietly Started Selling Breeze Flights, and Paying You Points for Them

Alaska Airlines has begun selling tickets for travel on Breeze Airways through its own website, and it is awarding Atmos Rewards points for those flights. The arrangement goes further than a simple interline agreement, yet it launched without much fanfare. The details surfaced in early October, with the aviation blog Cranky Flier analyzing the setup on October 6 and One Mile at a Time covering it the next day.

The partnership is lopsided by design. Alaska sells Breeze flights, but Breeze does not sell Alaska flights, and Alaska does not offer itineraries that combine the two airlines. Only select nonstop Breeze routes where the two carriers do not compete are included. So far, those are flights to and from Charleston, Las Vegas and Raleigh-Durham.

Shoppers should read the fine print. Alaska does not appear to offer every Breeze fare, and its pricing does not clearly line up with Breeze’s own fare bundles, so comparing the two sites before booking is sensible. Customers can earn Atmos Rewards points on the eligible flights, but it is not clear whether Alaska miles can be redeemed for Breeze travel.

For loyalty-minded travelers, the appeal is straightforward: a regional low-fare carrier in places where Alaska has no flights, with points attached. The unknowns are how the partnership will expand and whether it will grow into full reciprocal sales and earning, which neither airline has announced.
