IHG’s Hotel Indigo has opened its 200th hotel, doubling from 100 open properties in 2019. The brand, launched in 2004 and built around local character and neighborhood design, now operates in more than 30 countries. The figures are as of June 30, 2026, and IHG says another 134 hotels are in development.
The pipeline hints at where the brand is headed next. A Hotel Indigo in Riyadh, planned for next year, will be the brand’s first in Saudi Arabia, and a signing in Egypt will include Hotel Indigo’s first branded residences. The announcement did not say where the 200th hotel itself is located.
Elsewhere in the industry this week, Choice Hotels reached 600 extended-stay properties with the opening of an Everhome Suites near Denver International Airport, a format built around full kitchens for longer trips. Red Roof said its RediRewards program will add new loyalty tiers, more flexible redemption options and personalized benefits.
Taken together, the news shows where hotel companies are putting their energy: lifestyle brands with a sense of place, extended-stay rooms for longer trips, and loyalty programs that try to keep guests booking direct. For travelers, more brands in the same market usually means more choice and more ways to use points, though specific rewards details from Red Roof are still to come.
