A Warsaw–Bangkok Route Just Came Back After 26 Years

Golden temple spires in Bangkok

LOT Polish Airlines restarted nonstop flights between Warsaw Chopin and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi on October 7, ending a gap of 26 years. The service is flown with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and for travellers in central Europe it removes the need to connect through a Gulf or Western European hub to reach Thailand.

The airline is starting with three flights a week and plans to raise that to six weekly flights in November. That quick step-up suggests LOT expects healthy demand, particularly as the winter season brings travellers looking for warm-weather escapes from Poland and neighbouring countries.

For Bangkok-bound passengers, a direct Dreamliner flight means a shorter overall journey and one fewer chance for a missed connection or lost bag. It also gives Warsaw a long-haul destination in Southeast Asia at a time when the airline is competing for passengers who might otherwise route through larger airports in the Middle East.

Anyone considering the route should keep in mind that three weekly departures leaves limited flexibility until the November increase takes effect. Checking day-of-week patterns before booking, and looking at onward connections from Bangkok to elsewhere in Thailand and the region, will help make the most of the new link.
