Norwegian Cruise Line Unveils Great Tides Waterpark, Opening September 4 at Great Stirrup Cay

Water park slides and pool

Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled Great Tides Waterpark, a nearly six-acre attraction opening September 4 on its private Bahamian island, Great Stirrup Cay. The park features 19 total waterslides across four zones, including 11 main attractions and eight kid-friendly slides in a dedicated splash area, making it the largest amenity addition to the island in years.

Signature attractions include The Wandering River, billed as the cruise industry’s first immersive river tunnel, along with The Great Slide, a four-person body slide, and Tidal Tower, home to the dueling Breakwater Blasters water slides. Cliffside Cove rounds out the lineup with what Norwegian describes as the Caribbean’s tallest cliff jumps.

Day passes to Great Tides Waterpark go on sale to guests who have completed their cruise reservation, accessible through the myNCL account portal. The first sailings able to use the park will be aboard Norwegian Luna’s August 31 departure, which calls at Great Stirrup Cay on September 4, the park’s official opening day.

The waterpark adds to a wave of private-island investment among major cruise lines competing to differentiate their Caribbean itineraries. For Norwegian, Great Tides becomes a headline draw on Great Stirrup Cay alongside existing beach and dining offerings, giving families an added reason to book sailings that include a stop at the island.
