Series by Marriott Debuts in the South Pacific with Three New Caledonia Resorts

A turquoise lagoon and palm-fringed beach in the South Pacific

Marriott International has brought its newest collection brand to the South Pacific, with Series by Marriott debuting in New Caledonia through three resorts developed in partnership with Societe Hoteliere de Noumea. The properties sit in Noumea, on the Isle of Pines and at Deva, and together offer 375 guest rooms and suites: 207 at Le Domaine Noumea, 120 at Le Domaine Deva and 48 at Le Domaine Oro. Adding three properties simultaneously is an unusually decisive way to enter a market.

Series by Marriott is designed as a collection brand that keeps regional character while applying Marriott’s operating standards and loyalty programme. That model suits a destination like New Caledonia, where the appeal is precisely what makes it different: an Oceanian, French and Asian cultural blend, a UNESCO-listed lagoon system, and a food culture that owes as much to France as to the Pacific. A conventional international brand conversion would sand off exactly the edges that make the place worth flying to.

The three resorts are positioned across quite different settings. Facilities span beachfront and lagoon locations, multiple restaurants and bars, outdoor pools, fitness centres, Deep Nature Spa facilities and direct beach access with water-based recreation. Nouméa and Déva also carry meeting and event space, and Déva offers access to the Golf de Déva at Bourail. The Isle of Pines property is the smallest at 48 keys, reflecting an island whose whole character depends on not being overbuilt.

For travelers the immediate practical consequence is loyalty currency. New Caledonia has historically been a market where points earning and redemption were difficult, which quietly steered Australian and New Zealand travelers toward Fiji, Vanuatu or Queensland instead. Three Bonvoy-participating resorts change that calculation, and reflagging existing properties rather than building new ones means the inventory is available now rather than in several years’ time.
