The Okanagan Valley is Canada’s answer to wine country — a 150-kilometer string of lakes, orchards and more than 200 wineries running through British Columbia’s dry interior. This three-day self-drive loop covers West Kelowna’s biggest-name estates, a scenic rail-trail ride through restored railway trestles, Penticton’s famous lazy-river float, and the small, independent wineries lining the Naramata Bench.
Day 1West Kelowna Wineries & a Lakefront Check-In
Pick up a rental car at Kelowna International and spend the afternoon working through West Kelowna’s best-known wineries before settling into a lakefront room downtown.
🚗 Rental Car — Kelowna International Airport (YLW)
~15 min to West Kelowna · compact car from around $60 CAD/day
This whole route is built around self-driving the Okanagan’s wine roads, so pick up a car right at the airport — most major agencies have counters in the terminal, and the drive into wine country starts almost immediately.
🍷 Mission Hill Family Estate Winery
~1 hr tour & tasting · from around $40 CAD per person
Perched on a hilltop above Okanagan Lake with a bell tower and an amphitheater-style terrace, Mission Hill is the valley’s most architecturally dramatic winery and a good first stop — the guided cellar tour ends with a sit-down tasting looking out over the vines.

Day 2Myra Canyon Trestles & Floating the Penticton Channel
Trade wine tasting for a few hours outdoors — a flat, scenic rail-trail ride through restored railway trestles, then an hour drifting down Penticton’s famous lazy river.
🚴 Myra Canyon Trestles, Kettle Valley Rail Trail
~2–3 hrs round trip · bike rental from around $45 CAD/day
This flat, car-free stretch of the old Kettle Valley Railway crosses more than a dozen restored wooden trestles and two tunnels blasted through canyon walls, with sweeping views over the valley below — one of the most scenic easy rides in British Columbia, and free to access once you’ve got a bike.
🛞 Floating the Penticton Channel
~1 hr float · tube rental from around $20 CAD
Penticton’s warm-weather tradition: rent an inner tube and drift the roughly 7km Okanagan River Channel between Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake, then catch the shuttle bus back to your starting point. It’s touristy, slow and exactly the point.
