China Eastern Airlines is preparing a short but sizable boost to its Europe network. Filings reported by AeroRoutes on 12 October show Shanghai Pudong–Amsterdam service rising from seven weekly flights to twelve between 23 November and 30 December 2026. The period spans the run-up to Christmas and the New Year, when demand between China and Europe typically strengthens.
The added flying uses two aircraft types. Flight MU229 is shown operating from Pudong at 09:00, arriving in Amsterdam at 14:30, using an Airbus A330-200 on most days. MU771 leaves Pudong at 12:40 and lands at 17:45 on a Boeing 777-300, and is listed as a daily service. Return flights MU230 and MU772 depart Amsterdam at 17:05 and 20:00, arriving in Shanghai late morning and mid-afternoon the following day.
For travelers, the practical result is more choice of departure time and a larger pool of seats for what is often an expensive part of the year. Amsterdam is a popular entry point for travelers from China, and a second, wider-body daily rotation gives passengers more options for connecting beyond Schiphol across Europe.
The increase is temporary. After 30 December the route is expected to return to its regular pattern, though airlines frequently extend successful seasonal boosts. As with all filed schedules, times, aircraft and dates can still change, so anyone planning to fly should confirm details with the airline when booking.
