Air India has announced a nonstop link between Delhi and Osaka’s Kansai International Airport, starting February 2, 2027. The airline released the details on October 15. Flights will operate four times a week in each direction on a Boeing 787-8, and tickets are being released gradually through the airline’s website, app, contact centre, airport offices and travel agents.
The schedule is built around an overnight outbound. AI360 leaves Delhi at 22:50 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and lands in Osaka at 09:50 the next morning. AI359 departs Osaka at 11:50 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and reaches Delhi at 18:20 the same day. All times are local, which makes the return a same-day evening arrival.
The 787-8 carries 18 full-flat business class beds and 241 economy seats. Air India’s release did not include fares, so the cost of the new nonstop against a connection through another hub remains to be seen. What the airline does stress is flexibility in how passengers use the route rather than the price of any single ticket.
That flexibility is the open-jaw option. Travelers can fly into Osaka and home from Tokyo, or the reverse, which suits the so-called Golden Route through Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka without doubling back. For anyone planning a first trip to Japan from India, the pairing of a nonstop flight and a one-way city change is the real selling point.
