United Airlines has launched a web tool that answers a question frequent flyers have long asked: will my flight actually have the good Wi-Fi? The Starlink Tracker, hosted at StarlinkTracker.United.com, is updated daily with the flights that carry the satellite service, and United says it is now on nearly half of its daily departures.
Using it is simple. Travelers enter a travel date and flight number within three days of departure, and the tool reports whether Starlink will be onboard. It also reflects aircraft changes, which matters because a last-minute swap can quietly remove the feature. United additionally flags Starlink availability in pre-flight emails, text messages and on the flight status page in its app.
The launch comes with a loyalty twist. A promotion called Switch to Better Wi-Fi runs through October 22 and is aimed at rival customers: members of Delta SkyMiles and American AAdvantage can earn United Premier status through January 2028 by meeting spending requirements and flying a United or United Express flight within 90 days of applying.
There are gaps in what has been disclosed. The airline has not published an exact count of Starlink-equipped aircraft or the size of the fleet it is measured against, and the coverage reporting the launch does not mention pricing for the connectivity itself. Still, being able to check before you book a work-heavy trip is a practical step forward.
