Hotel Rooms Are Being Rebuilt Around a PlayStation 5

Hotels are adding esports to their amenity lists alongside pools, spas and pickleball courts. Minor Hotels’ Nhow Berlin piloted gaming guestrooms about two years ago, with neon lighting, a high-performance PC, ergonomic chair and desk, two large screens and an integrated PlayStation 5. The first two rooms opened in summer 2024; three more followed, and a gaming studio launched in 2025.

Minor’s Alexander Duerr told Travel Weekly the guest base was “far more diverse than expected,” including leisure travelers, families and business guests. This fall Nhow Frankfurt launched Game:NXT with the professional organization SK Gaming and six rooms with portable gaming suitcases, and Minor plans gaming rooms in Brussels, Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

Other brands are moving too. Holiday Inn launched Elite Gaming Pods with EStars in September at four Saudi Arabian hotels, timed to the Esports World Cup 2026, with PCs, consoles and curved monitors in common areas. Radisson Hotel Group launched Esports Ready with Spacefwd in early 2025 across more than 100 properties, offering low-latency internet, private gaming rooms and a 15 percent discount for teams and events.

Industry voices say the push is logical. Northstar Meetings Group’s Jason Gewirtz notes nearly every university now has an esports team, and those teams travel to live events. Consultant Ed Tomasi says successful esports destinations usually have a dedicated esports lead at the tourism board and grants for attracting events, and hotels increasingly ask how to become “esports-ready.”
