PortMiami says its 2026-27 cruise season will include 81 days when seven to ten ships are hosted at its terminals at the same time, according to a press release reported by Cruise Industry News. December will be among the busiest months, with nine or ten ships in port at once for more than ten days. Weekends will see the highest passenger numbers.
Scale is part of the story. Icon of the Seas carries 5,610 guests and MSC World America 5,400 passengers, so a ten-ship day can mean tens of thousands of people moving through the port. The release did not give a total passenger forecast for the season, so the 81-day count is the main measure of how crowded the terminals will be.
New ships and new brands are arriving. Maiden calls include Ponant’s L’Austral, Explora Journeys’ Explora III, Orient Express’ OE Corinthian, Ritz-Carlton’s Ilma, Emerald Sakara, Four Seasons I and several Silversea ships. In 2027, Margaritaville at Sea makes its global debut at the port in January, Carnival Firenze runs a seasonal program from February to mid-May, Norwegian Aura debuts in June and Royal Caribbean’s Hero of the Seas arrives in August.
To keep traffic moving, PortMiami recently launched a plan developed with cruise lines and other stakeholders to streamline port access. It includes complimentary airport transfers for selected cruises and AI-powered technology. Cruisers sailing on the busiest days may want to check arrival times and transfer options early, since congestion is most likely when many ships overlap on a weekend.
