Hard Rock Casino Tejon, which only opened in November 2025, is already getting a hotel. The Tejon Indian Tribe and Hard Rock International broke ground this week on a phase costing more than $725 million, with construction starting immediately afterward.

The property sits on tribal land in Mettler, California, less than 15 miles south of Bakersfield in Kern County. The new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tejon will add 406 rooms, including 119 suites, in king and double-queen layouts, and the opening is anticipated for summer 2028.

Beyond the rooms, the casino floor grows by 900 slot machines to reach 3,000. Dining plans include Council Oak Steaks & Seafood, two more outlets in The Marketplace and a new Center Bar, while the leisure side adds two resort-style pools with cabanas and daybeds and a Rock Spa with 13 treatment rooms.

The project also adds meeting rooms, pre-function space and an outdoor event lawn. Developers expect more than 1,500 construction jobs and 350 new permanent positions, which would bring the total to more than 1,700 permanent roles. More specific construction milestones and an opening timeline are still to come.
