Hilton has started letting some of its loyalty members settle their hotel bill with Hilton Honors points without ever stopping at the front desk. The company announced on October 22 that the option now lives inside Digital Check Out in the Hilton Honors app, and it describes Hilton as the first major hotel brand to offer the capability.
The catch is who gets it. Only members at the Silver, Gold, Diamond and Diamond Reserve tiers are eligible, and what can be paid for varies by property. Members open the app, review their folio, pick from the redemption options on offer and apply points to eligible charges on the bill.
The rollout is staged. The feature is live at 150 participating U.S. hotels today, with more than 800 expected by the end of 2026. Hilton says it plans to extend it to more than 6,000 participating U.S. and Canadian properties in early 2027, so travelers will need to check whether a specific hotel takes part.
Hilton frames the change as a response to member feedback: in its research, 70 percent of surveyed members were interested in using points on property, and about half said it could make them more likely to stay or book. It sits alongside the existing Digital Check In, Digital Key and Choose Your Room tools, and a Honors executive said every point represents a choice a member made to stay with the brand.
