Hilton has signed a multi-year agreement with Scandic Hotels Group, the largest hotel company in the Nordic region, to bring Hilton-branded properties to Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The deal was announced on October 21.
The first project is a new-build Hilton Hotels property next to Copenhagen Airport, scheduled to open in 2029 with 284 rooms. Scandic will operate it under a franchise agreement with Hilton, an arrangement that lets Hilton add Nordic locations without owning or running the buildings itself.
Scandic has more than 300 hotels in operation and under development, which gives Hilton an established local partner in markets where the company has been comparatively thin. The companies also say the agreement will bring new benefits for members of both Hilton Honors and Scandic’s own loyalty program, though details have not yet been spelled out.
Hilton chief executive Christopher Nassetta called the deal a significant milestone that creates a clear pathway to grow across the four countries. For travelers, the practical effect is still several years away, but points-minded guests in Scandinavia may eventually find more places to earn and redeem, especially near major airports and city centers.
