Holland America’s Private Island Just Got a VIP Section

Tropical Bahamas beach with turquoise water

Holland America Line has officially welcomed guests to a new Beach Club at RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, its private island in the Bahamas. The refresh arrives ahead of the destination’s 30th anniversary in 2027 and is available on more than two dozen Caribbean sailings between October 2026 and April 2027. The club is a paid, exclusive area layered on top of the island’s regular beach.

Day-pass buyers get priority tendering, dedicated waiter service, all-inclusive drinks, beach accessories and specialty food and beverage options. Priority tendering is the quiet headline, because getting ashore quickly on a busy port day is often the main frustration on private-island calls. The island’s beach area also adds daybeds, upgraded two-person canopy loungers and extra beach chairs.

There is a free option too: a new food pavilion offers a barbecue menu available only on the island. Existing bars and eateries are being renovated, and cabanas have been upgraded. Four pickleball courts introduced last season remain, giving active guests something to do beyond the sand. The company’s president, Beth Bodensteiner, said it was exciting to unveil the Beach Club as the first visitors arrive this month.

Pricing was not part of the announcement, so travelers should check the cruise line’s booking pages before assuming a day pass fits their budget. The pattern is familiar across the industry: cruise lines are building tiered experiences on private islands, where a basic visit remains included and premium areas carry an added fee. Passengers who prefer a quiet day may find the standard beach perfectly adequate.
