IHG Hotels and Resorts announced on October 22 that it now operates more than 1,000 hotels in Europe. The company says it has added more than 210 European hotels over the past three years, which it describes as net system size growth above 25 percent, and that more than 280 further European hotels are in development.

The expansion has come with new names. IHG says it has made 36 brand debuts in European countries since the start of 2024, excluding Ruby properties, with debuts highlighted in Iceland, Sweden and Greece. Its Ruby urban lifestyle brand makes its French debut with Ruby Lilou Hotel Marseille, and Noted Collection, IHG’s 21st brand, has seven signings globally.

Individual openings give a sense of the range. The Hari in London’s Belgravia, an 85-room hotel, joined the Vignette Collection, which now has 13 operating hotels and 16 in development in Europe. A 195-room Crowne Plaza opened in Vienna, and Madrid has a project converting an office building into a luxury hotel.

The milestone comes as Europe drew about 793 million international arrivals in 2025, according to UN Tourism figures cited by IHG. One caution from the announcement is that the development pipeline should not be confused with operating inventory, since completion schedules can change.
