Lufthansa Group opened bookings on October 20 for what it calls its biggest flight expansion since 2020, headlined by ten new long-haul connections for summer 2027. Among them, Lufthansa will fly Frankfurt to Columbus, Ohio, from May 5, three times a week on a Boeing 787-9, which the report describes as Columbus’s first nonstop link to Europe. Munich to Phoenix follows on August 3, three weekly on an Airbus A350-900.

Frankfurt to Tokyo Narita starts March 28, daily on a 787-9. Discover Airlines will fly Frankfurt to Edmonton from June 1, three times a week, which the report says will be the only nonstop link between Germany and Edmonton and Discover’s third Canadian destination. ITA Airways adds Rome to Caracas on March 30, three weekly on an Airbus A330-900.

The announcement also reaches beyond the headline routes. Austrian plans a seasonal Vienna to Beirut service from June to September 2027, Brussels Airlines adds Brussels to Cairo five times weekly, and SWISS flies Zurich to Toulouse twice weekly from June 25 to August 23. Edelweiss expands to Windhoek, Malé and Tampa Bay, with up to five weekly flights to the latter two.

There are further seasonal changes: Frankfurt to Nagoya returns from March 29, and Munich to Delhi gets a second seasonal service from March 28. The reports reviewed do not list all ten long-haul routes, so travellers should check each airline’s booking page for exact schedules, aircraft and fares before planning around any of them.
