Geneva Airport announced on October 30 that LATAM Airlines Brasil will launch a nonstop service between São Paulo Guarulhos and Geneva in April 2027. Aviation Week describes it as the first direct connection between Geneva and Latin America, and notes that it still depends on government approval, so the start date is not yet locked.
The schedule published by aeroTELEGRAPH shows three weekly flights on a Boeing 787-9. Geneva to São Paulo operates on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, leaving at 12:05 and landing at 18:55 local time. The return flights run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. An exact launch day within April has not been given.
Passengers are only part of the pitch. LATAM is also aiming at belly cargo, particularly pharmaceuticals and other high-value shipments, a sensible focus for an airport serving Switzerland’s life-sciences and finance sectors. Geneva Airport chief executive Jean-François de Saussure welcomed the route.
For travelers, the practical change is fewer connections. Today, trips between Switzerland and Brazil generally involve a stop at another European hub, so a nonstop on a widebody could shave hours off the journey. Fares have not been announced, and booking details should follow once the approval and final schedule are confirmed.
