Universal Just Confirmed a Mystery Coaster Nobody Can Name Yet

Roller coaster tracks lit up at night

Universal Orlando confirmed on November 5 that a new indoor roller coaster is being built at Epic Universe, the resort’s newest theme park. It will sit in Dark Universe, the land themed around the classic Universal Monsters, and it will tell an original story inspired by that franchise. The company’s statement said construction is underway, with an opening planned in the years ahead.

That is nearly all Universal has said. The ride has no name, no opening date, and no announced manufacturer or ride system. Fans have speculated about Bride of Frankenstein or Creature from the Black Lagoon themes, but neither has been confirmed by the company.

Some clues come from public records. Orange County permits reported by the fan site BlogMickey in September describe a three-story building of about 93,308 square feet, labeled “Project 680.” WDW News Today documented foundation work at the site in October. The attraction will be in the Darkmoor area, next to Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, and by one count it is the third attraction in the land.

Epic Universe opened in May 2025, so the announcement is among the first big additions since launch. For visitors planning Orlando trips, nothing changes immediately, since the ride is still years from opening. But it is a signal that Universal intends to keep expanding the park rather than letting it settle, which matters for anyone deciding how many days to book there.
