Tripadvisor is cutting jobs, and its outgoing chief executive says the overhaul of its experiences business did not deliver. Skift reports that third-quarter revenue fell 11 percent to $436.4 million, and that the company posted a net loss of $316.9 million for the period.
The experiences segment, built around the Viator tours and activities marketplace, saw revenue decline 3 percent, and adjusted EBITDA dropped 27 percent. The restructuring is expected to save about $40 million on a gross annualized basis, according to the figures Skift cites from the company’s results.
Leadership is changing as well. CEO Matt Goldberg is scheduled to leave on February 16, 2027, and chief financial officer Michael Noonan departs on December 31. The timing means the company will enter the new year with a transition already under way, and it has not yet been described in the report who will take over strategy for the experiences business.
For travelers who rely on Tripadvisor reviews and Viator bookings, the Skift report says nothing about changes to the service itself. The story is about the company’s finances and direction. It does, however, show how hard it has been for a review-first brand to turn its audience into booking revenue, a challenge that rivals across the industry continue to chase.
