Alaska Airlines announced on August 21 that it will launch its longest route ever, a seasonal nonstop service from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Athens, beginning May 12, 2027. The airline will also start a five-times-weekly nonstop to Paris Charles de Gaulle on May 25, 2027, making it the first carrier to connect the West Coast directly to the French capital.

Both routes will run through October and be operated with Alaska’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, the aircraft the airline inherited through its 2024 acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines. The Athens service will fly three times a week and becomes Alaska’s longest route by distance, edging out its existing Seattle-Seoul nonstop.

Alaska is positioning the new routes as a bid to compete more directly with Delta and United for premium transatlantic travelers departing the Pacific Northwest, who have historically had to connect through Northeast or European hubs to reach Greece. Athens will be Alaska’s first-ever nonstop service between the West Coast and Greece.

Introductory round-trip Main Cabin fares start at $999 and are available for purchase in the U.S. through August 26. Alaska says both routes will be bookable on its website immediately, with seasonal service expected to return each summer if demand holds up through the inaugural year.
