American Airlines began flying between Chicago O’Hare and South Bend, Indiana on Monday, October 6, replacing a bus connection that ran under the Landline brand. Flights operate three times daily on regional aircraft.
American announced the switch in August. For South Bend travelers it means a real boarding pass and a short hop into one of the airline’s largest hubs instead of a motorcoach ride, though a bus-to-plane swap does not always mean a faster trip once check-in and security are counted.
The change is not universal. American also ended Landline service to Rockford, Illinois this week, and that route is not being replaced by flights, leaving Rockford travelers without the airline’s connection to O’Hare.
The partnership between American and Landline at O’Hare has ended, though the two continue to work together at Philadelphia International Airport. If you booked a ground connection at O’Hare, confirm your itinerary with the airline.
