Canyonlands Regional Airport, the gateway to Moab in Grand County, Utah, has regained scheduled airline service under a switch in its Essential Air Service contract. SkyWest took the contract over from Contour Airlines, which had flown to Denver and Phoenix, and its agreement runs through September 2030.
The first piece started on October 1, when SkyWest began seasonal daily flights to Salt Lake City as a Delta Connection carrier. Those run through Thanksgiving and then pause until March 2027. The second piece begins on October 9, when SkyWest starts year-round United Express service to Denver with one or two daily round trips.
Both routes use 50-seat regional jets: CRJ200s for United and CRJ550s for Delta. That is small, so seats to a destination as popular as Moab’s red-rock country may be scarce at peak times.
A SkyWest executive said direct access to Denver and Salt Lake City, plus connections onto United’s and Delta’s global networks, makes travel easier for local residents and visitors. If you are planning a southern Utah trip, it is worth pricing a flight into Canyonlands against the long drive from Salt Lake City, but note that Phoenix is no longer part of the schedule.
