American Airlines has revealed plans for what it calls the largest Admirals Club in its network, at its Charlotte Douglas hub. The lounge will cover about 40,000 square feet and sit in the airport’s atrium on the mezzanine level.
Planned features include bars, serveries, spa-style shower suites and separate areas for working and relaxing. Construction is scheduled to begin later in 2026. American has not announced an opening date, and the announcement did not give a capacity figure.
The existing lounges will stay open during the work. Charlotte currently has two Admirals Club lounges, one in Concourse B and one in Concourse C/D, plus a smaller Provisions by Admirals Club near Gate A1. That means connecting passengers should not lose lounge access while the new space is built.
Charlotte is one of American’s busiest connecting hubs, and lounges have become a competitive battleground among the big U.S. carriers. The details to watch are access rules and whether crowding eases once the larger room opens.
