Seven New Lapland Hotels Are Betting on the Northern Lights

Glass igloo under a snowy Lapland sky

Seven new places to stay are due to open in Finnish Lapland for winter 2026–27, and most of them are built around the same idea: a warm bed with a view of the sky. Halo Riverside Resort, near Rovaniemi, opens this month with 39 glass igloos that have heated glass roofs, private indoor saunas and outdoor hot tubs.

Aava Glass Igloos, about 8 km from Rovaniemi, opens on November 13 with 13 igloo suites, private saunas, kitchens and a real-time Northern Lights alert system. Opening rates start from €599 a night on select dates, with a two-night minimum that includes breakfast, dinner and a welcome plate. In central Rovaniemi, Santa’s Hotel Noelle adds 101 rooms over seven floors, linked to Santa’s Hotel Santa Claus by a covered pedestrian bridge.

Further north, Arcora Boutique Hotel & Villas in Muonio opens on December 14 beside Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park, with 59 suites and villas and a rooftop infinity pool. North Resort, by Lake Miekojärvi near Pello, plans 14 villas and two larger suites on an all-inclusive, full-board basis; sources differ on whether it opens on November 15 or December 1.

Rounding out the list are Kelo Sky Villas at Kelo Resort in Raattama, due in December, and Octola III in the Enontekijö region, a six-guest property on the site of a former radar station that is booked by private enquiry. With several opening dates still approximate, it is worth confirming availability directly before committing to winter travel plans.
