Four Seasons Picked a Spot in Morocco Where You Can See Spain

Four Seasons is adding a fourth property in Morocco, and this one sits where Africa nearly touches Europe. The Four Seasons Resort Tangier is planned for the Cap Malabata district on the country’s northern coast, overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar with views across to Spain. The company has said only that it is “set to open,” without giving a date.

The resort will have 99 guest rooms and suites, including 27 standalone villas, and more than 260 meters, about 850 feet, of waterfront. Amenities include an expansive pool area, four signature dining venues, a full-service spa and fitness center, the Kids For All Seasons program, and indoor and outdoor event spaces.

Royal Resort Cap Malabata, a luxury development company backed by GFH, is the developer, with Four Seasons as the operator. Arjitec designed the resort, and Goddard Littlefair handled the interiors. It is not an exotic desert outpost but a city-adjacent resort: the property is about 15 minutes from Tangier’s high-speed train station and 45 minutes from Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport.

That location is the selling point. Tangier has been drawing renewed attention as a gateway city, reachable by fast train from elsewhere in Morocco and by short ferry hops from Spain. Travelers hoping to book will have to wait for an official opening date and rates, but the early specifications point to a small, villa-heavy luxury product rather than a large-scale hotel.
