Marriott Wants Its Elite Lounge Experience to Taste Local at 320 Asian Hotels

Marriott is testing a new kind of elite lounge for Bonvoy members in Asia, and it plans to roll it out at roughly 320 hotels. About 100 of them are in Asia-Pacific outside China, and about 220 are in Greater China. Examples named so far include properties in Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok and Shanghai.

The timeline is quick. Marriott expects about 100 hotels to be running the concept by February 2027 and all 320 by the end of the first quarter of 2027. The company calls it a pilot, and lounges in places like Canada are not changing for now. Which elite tiers qualify has not yet been announced, although club lounge access currently starts at Platinum Elite.

The focus is food and service. Marriott describes upgraded food and drinks inspired by local cuisine, dedicated staff during busy periods, a morning wellness drink called Coral Pour, and regional dishes branded Marriott Bonvoy Bites each evening. That points to lounges that reflect their city rather than offering a uniform buffet.

Several details remain open. It is not clear how large the evening portions will be, whether the spread is meant to replace dinner, or whether paying guests will share the space with elite members. Travellers heading to Asia early next year should check the lounge status of their specific hotel before counting on it.
