The former Last Hotel in downtown St. Louis reopened on October 15, 2026, as Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis. The property at 1501 Washington Avenue sits in a building originally constructed for the International Shoe Company. New owners bought it this year for 14 million dollars and put about 4 million dollars into renovations before bringing it back under the Hyatt flag.
The history is checkered. The hotel joined Hyatt’s Unbound Collection in June 2020 and left it in May 2021. It then closed abruptly in March 2025 while in receivership, according to hotel-industry coverage. Its return as a Hyatt Centric, a brand aimed at urban, design-minded travelers, marks a fresh start for a landmark that spent much of the past year dark.
At opening, the hotel offers a restaurant called The Link, named for the building’s architect Theodore Link, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with a coffee bar and a rooftop pool and bar. Industry reports put the property at 142 rooms, and starting rates at about 135 dollars a night or 8,000 World of Hyatt points, though prices will vary by date. The reports reviewed did not give details of the room categories.
For World of Hyatt members, the reopening adds a points-eligible option in downtown St. Louis, a city where chain choices in the center have been limited. Anyone planning a stay should confirm current rates and award availability on Hyatt’s site, since opening-period pricing often changes. The hotel’s rooftop space and downtown location may also make it a draw for event-goers and conference visitors.
