Phoenix Is About to Get a Nonstop to Bavaria

Lufthansa has announced nonstop service between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Munich, starting August 3, 2027. The route would be the first nonstop flight between the two cities, and the airport shared the news on October 20.

Phoenix has been steadily adding long-haul service, and Munich is one of Lufthansa’s main hubs, so the new link opens one-stop connections from Arizona into much of Europe and beyond. Travelers who now route through other U.S. gateways to reach Germany would gain a direct option.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego called the route a win for residents, businesses and the community as a whole. The airport, which describes itself as America’s Friendliest Airport, says it continues to add international service, and a transatlantic route to a major European hub fits that push.

Details such as schedule and aircraft were left to a full press release linked from the airport’s newsletter. With the start date still the better part of a year away, fares and seat availability should become clearer as sales open.
