Porter Thinks London, Ontario Deserves a Nonstop to Vancouver

Passenger aircraft on the ground at a Canadian airport

Porter Airlines is adding five nonstop domestic routes from London International Airport in southwestern Ontario in spring 2027. The new destinations are Halifax, Vancouver, Edmonton, Ottawa and Montreal’s Metropolitan airport, which turns a regional airport into a much better-connected one.

Halifax, Vancouver and Ottawa and Montreal start on April 12, 2027, with Edmonton following on May 6. Halifax, Vancouver and Edmonton will use the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2, with peak frequencies of seven, eleven and seven weekly flights respectively.

Ottawa and Montreal are aimed squarely at business travelers, with up to 20 weekly flights each on the 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400, enough for as many as three daily round trips and same-day trips. Porter says all its cabins have no middle seats.

The announcement follows Porter’s earlier plan for winter sun routes from London to Florida, Mexico and Jamaica, and signals the airline wants to be the local carrier of choice rather than leaving residents to drive to Toronto.
