Qatar Airways will begin flying between Doha and Western Sydney International Airport on December 15, 2027, with tickets going on sale on December 19, 2026. The service will run three times a week: QR906 leaves Doha on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and QR907 returns from Western Sydney on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The airport itself is due to open to its first passengers on October 25.
Press coverage says the route will use a Boeing 777-300ER with 354 seats, 42 of them Qsuite business class. The airline hopes to go daily by the end of 2028, according to Executive Traveller. Three flights a week use less than half of the seven weekly Western Sydney flights Qatar is allowed under its agreement, so a daily schedule would use the full allowance.
That allowance comes from an updated bilateral air services agreement reached in May 2026, which allows up to seven weekly Western Sydney flights each for Qatar and the UAE and lifts Qatar’s overall approval to 35 weekly flights from Doha. In 2023 the government had refused Qatar’s request to double its flights from 28 to 56 a week as not in the national interest.
Western Sydney’s lack of a curfew matters for scheduling. Unlike Sydney’s Kingsford Smith airport, the new airport has no night-time restrictions, which helps an airline fit flights around a busy hub such as Doha. Qatar’s flights are still more than a year away, and the airline’s schedule and aircraft could change before launch, so travellers should confirm details when tickets go on sale.
