Tauck Is Doubling Its Rhone Fleet Because Guests Keep Asking

A river winding through the French countryside

Tauck opened bookings for its 2028 European river cruise collection on October 28, citing strong early demand. The collection adds three new Rhone itineraries lasting six to 14 days, and the new ms Harmonie will sail alongside the Lumiere, doubling Tauck’s guest capacity on the river.

CEO Jennifer Tombaugh said guests and travel advisors want more ways to experience the river. Tauck calls the additions part of a multi-year expansion that will raise its river cruise guest capacity by more than 50 percent over 2025 levels by 2028. The collection is all-inclusive and includes Tauck Directors and local guides.

The new trips are Essence of the Rhone, a six-day cruise-only sailing between Lyon and Arles on the Harmonie; A Week On… the Rhone, an eight-day trip with five nights on the Lumiere that includes Avignon, the Camargue and a chocolate-making session in Tain-l’Hermitage; and Barcelona, Burgundy & the Rhone, a 14-day trip pairing three hotel nights in Barcelona with nine cruise nights to Lyon through five wine regions.

Tauck has also scheduled five Wellness Departures for 2028, following two in 2027 aboard the Serene, and is offering Rhine Enchantment, an 11-day sailing from the Italian Lakes to Amsterdam on select 2028 departures that begins with three nights at the Hotel Splendide Royal in Lugano, Switzerland.
