Singapore Airlines Just Moved Dubai’s Return Date Out by 89 Days

Travelers hoping to fly Singapore Airlines to Dubai this winter will have to wait. The carrier has extended the cancellation of flights SQ494 and SQ495 until February 28, 2027, according to an advisory it issued on October 30. That is an 89-day extension over the previous restart date of December 2, 2026, and the longest push-back so far.

The airline points to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East as the reason. Passengers holding tickets for travel through February 28 are eligible for refunds on the unused portion of their booking, so anyone affected can ask for their money back rather than rebook onto a route that is not flying.

When the route does return, it will come back in stages. Service is planned to resume on March 1, 2027, using a two-class Airbus A350 Medium Haul aircraft from March 1 to 27. From March 28 the route is due to move to a four-class Boeing 777-300ER, the airline’s larger long-haul configuration.

For now, Emirates is reported to be the only airline operating the Singapore–Dubai route, flying it four times daily. Singapore Airlines has also kept March 28, 2027 as the planned start of its new Riyadh service, flying the A350 three times a week, so its Gulf plans are being pushed back selectively rather than abandoned.
