Etihad Airways is set to begin nonstop flights between Abu Dhabi and Calgary on Tuesday, Nov. 3, adding a Western Canadian gateway to a North American network that already reaches several eastern and midwestern US and Canadian cities. Aviation Week describes it as the first nonstop link between the UAE and Calgary.

The route will be flown four times a week with a Boeing 787-9. Schedules published when the airline announced the service in January list the outbound flight leaving Abu Dhabi at 8:45 a.m. and arriving in Calgary at 12:20 p.m. the same day, with the return departing Calgary at 6:05 p.m. and landing in Abu Dhabi at 7:00 p.m. the next day.

Calgary becomes Etihad’s westernmost destination in North America and, according to the trade report, the only nonstop connection between the Middle East and Western Canada. The launch follows an expansion of the air services arrangement between Canada and the UAE in December 2025, which lifted the cap to 35 weekly passenger frequencies for carriers on each side.

For travelers, the practical effect is a one-stop path from Alberta to the Gulf and onward to Etihad’s Asian, African and Indian Ocean destinations without first routing through Toronto or a European hub. Schedules can change, so anyone planning around the new flights should confirm days and times with the airline before booking.
