Hyatt’s Thompson Brand Finally Lands in Italy

Historic Rome street with warm stone buildings

Hyatt’s Thompson brand has opened its first hotel in Italy, in Rome. Thompson Rome occupies a restored building from the 1940s and offers 69 rooms and 19 suites, putting it firmly in the boutique category rather than the large-scale resort category that dominates many new openings.

Food and drink are part of the draw: the property has three dining and drinking venues, according to a hotel-news roundup published at the end of October. Details on the individual venues were not spelled out in that summary, so check the hotel’s pages for menus and reservation policies.

For loyalty members, the hotel sits in Category 8 of World of Hyatt, with award rates starting at 35,000 points per night, or cash rates from about $500. Those are starting prices, and Rome’s peak seasons tend to push rates well above entry levels, so flexible dates will matter if you are redeeming points.

The opening adds to a busy stretch for design-led hotels in European capitals as global brands chase travelers who want a local feel inside a familiar loyalty program. Verify current availability and rates directly with Hyatt before booking.
