AirAsia is targeting March 2027 for its first passenger flights to Bahrain, Skift reports, its first firm date since the US-Iran war forced the group to adjust its plans. The date was given when a seven-member, all non-executive board for AirAsia Bahrain was appointed on November 1.
Capital A CEO Tony Fernandes said the group is targeting the start of AirAsia flights to Bahrain by March 2027, “as conditions allow,” a caveat that leaves room for further delays.
Skift notes that a Pegasus deal routing Europe traffic through Istanbul undercuts the case for a Gulf hub. In February 2026, two weeks before the war began, the group had also said it would return to the UK.
For travelers, nothing is on sale yet, and the March target is conditional. It is a signal that low-cost long-haul ambitions in the Gulf are being revived, but routes, fares and schedules have not been announced.
