Zurich to Mumbai Is Getting a Quieter, Newer Jet

Swiss International Air Lines plans to swap its aging Airbus A340-300s for the newer A350-900 on the Zurich to Mumbai route this winter. According to AeroRoutes, the A350 is scheduled to operate the service daily from December 15, 2026.

The timetable puts flight LX154 leaving Zurich at 9:50 a.m. and landing in Mumbai at 10:30 p.m. local time, while LX155 departs Mumbai at 1:30 a.m. and reaches Zurich at 6:10 a.m. That keeps the pattern of a daytime outbound and an overnight return that suits both business and visiting-family traffic.

The change is not total. From January 6, 2027, the service departing Zurich on one day of the schedule cycle and Mumbai the next is shown as an Airbus A330-300 instead of the A350, so travelers who care about the aircraft type should check the specific flight when booking.

The A350 is generally the more fuel-efficient and quieter of the two types, and the move continues a broader shift among European carriers toward modern twin-engine jets on India routes as demand for travel to the subcontinent stays strong. The schedule comes from an airline filing and could still change before December.
