Hilton says it now has more than 100 operating and planned hotels in the Caribbean, with nearly 60 of them already open. The headline project is a 257-room dual-brand Homewood Suites and Hampton by Hilton in San Juan, Hilton’s first dual-brand project in the region.
Developer PRISA Group invested more than US$77 million in the San Juan property, according to Caribbean Business as cited in the report. The district’s hotel inventory rose from 955 rooms to 1,212, an increase of 26.9 percent. Hilton plans around 25 hotels in Puerto Rico overall, adding destinations such as Ponce, Fajardo, Dorado and Arecibo.
Recent openings include The Westerly at Hilton Aruba and Ports of Call in Turks and Caicos, while upcoming projects include the DoubleTree Punta Cana Downtown by the end of 2026 and Tru Punta Cana and DoubleTree Curaçao in 2027. Later projects include a first Hilton-brand hotel in Dominica in 2028 and Waldorf Astoria Dellis Cay in Turks and Caicos by 2030.
The report cautions that future dates are development targets, not confirmed openings, so timelines can slip. For travelers, the practical effect is more brand choice on islands such as Puerto Rico, where room supply has been growing, and more Hilton Honors options in places that were previously dominated by independent resorts.
