Ryanair will start nonstop flights between Shannon Airport and Milan Bergamo on 28 March 2027. The service is scheduled twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, and tickets are already on sale ahead of the airline’s wider Summer 2027 schedule announcement.
Bergamo becomes Shannon’s fourth Ryanair-served Italian destination, joining Rome, Naples and Turin. The airport expects the new route to add roughly 25,000 seats to its Summer 2027 programme, which could support visits into Ireland’s west as well as business links with northern Italy.
The arrival airport doubles as a gateway to more than Milan. Bergamo’s preserved medieval upper town, Città Alta, is a destination in itself, and the surrounding region gives access to Lake Como, Lake Garda and the Italian Alps, so the route works for city breaks and for travellers heading farther into Lombardy.
The announcement fits a strong year for Shannon. Its 2026 route programme featured 40 services, the most in 17 years, and passenger numbers reached 1.17 million in the first half of 2026, a 12% year-on-year increase, according to airport figures reported by RTÉ. For people in the Mid-West who have had to travel to Dublin for many Italian flights, a direct service is a concrete convenience.
