Geneva Is About to Get a Link to Latin America It Has Never Had

LATAM Airlines plans to connect São Paulo’s Guarulhos airport with Geneva beginning in April 2027, and the route is being described as the first nonstop link between Geneva and anywhere in Latin America. Flights are planned three times a week and will be flown with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, subject to government approvals that have not yet been completed.

Geneva is a natural but long-underserved market for South America. The city is home to a dense cluster of international organizations, multinational headquarters and private banking, and it is also the gateway to Alpine ski resorts that draw visitors from Brazil and neighboring countries every winter. Until now, travelers from the region have generally had to connect through another European hub.

For LATAM, the move extends its European network beyond the capitals and largest hubs it already serves, and it gives the airline a distinctive route that few competitors can match. A nonstop flight typically saves several hours compared with a connection, which is the main selling point for business and premium leisure travelers.

Because approval is still pending, the schedule should be treated as a plan rather than a guarantee, and the final start date and frequencies could change. Tickets are not described as being on sale yet in the reports available, so travelers interested in the route will want to watch for the airline’s official schedule release and fare announcements in the months ahead.
