Wyndham Is Handing Out a Free Rung on Its Status Ladder

Wyndham Rewards has launched a limited-time holiday promotion that gives members worldwide a free step up in elite status. Blue members can move to Gold, Gold members to Platinum, and Platinum members to Diamond, with no qualifying nights required. It is one of the easier status offers a hotel program has run this year.

The catch is that the upgrade has to be claimed. Members need to activate it by December 30, and the upgraded status is valid through December 31. That makes it a short window, so anyone planning end-of-year hotel stays should claim it quickly through the program’s upgrade page rather than assume it will be applied automatically.

Diamond members, who are already at the top, get different perks. Diamonds in the United States receive two complimentary months of Wyndham Rewards Insider, or 3,000 bonus points if they are already Insider members. Diamond members outside the United States also receive 3,000 points. Wyndham says 3,000 points can go toward a discounted hotel night at participating properties.

A separate Wyndham offer for four times the points can be combined with the upgrade, according to the source article. Since the higher status runs only through the end of December, the biggest benefit goes to people who already have trips booked over the holidays and want the room upgrades or late checkout that usually come with elite tiers.
