Venice’s Legendary Hotel Danieli Prepares for Official Reopening as a Four Seasons on August 26

The Hotel Danieli, a fixture of Venice’s Riva degli Schiavoni since the 19th century, welcomed its first guests on July 30 and is set for an official reopening on August 26 under Four Seasons management. The property closed for more than three years for a full restoration of its historic palazzo.

The reopened hotel offers 120 rooms and suites, a number expected to grow to 168 once restoration of the adjoining Palazzo Danieli Excelsior finishes in 2027. Guests have lagoon views, restored period interiors, and a new rooftop restaurant looking out over St. Mark’s Basin.

A dedicated Danieli Spa is scheduled to open later this year with three treatment rooms, a couples’ suite, a sauna and a hammam. Four Seasons will operate the property in partnership with Italian owner Gruppo Statuto, which retains ownership of the building.

The reopening adds Venice to a short list of European capitals seeing historic grand-hotel revivals this year, as luxury operators compete for high-spending travelers willing to pay a premium for heritage properties in destinations already grappling with overtourism pressure.
