United Is Heading Back to Flagstaff and It Is Bringing Company

Red rock desert landscape in northern Arizona

United Airlines will resume service between Denver and Flagstaff, Arizona, starting August 10, 2027. The flights will run twice daily, year-round, and tickets are already on sale. The route gives travelers heading to the Grand Canyon region and northern Arizona a new connection through United’s Denver hub.

The service is a return, not a debut. United paused the route in October 2022, a move Flagstaff officials attributed to rising jet fuel prices and staffing shortages. Nearly five years later, the airline is putting it back on the schedule on a year-round basis rather than seasonally.

United will not be alone in the market. Delta is set to begin serving Flagstaff from Salt Lake City on June 7, 2027, which means the airport is about to go from having a single airline to three. Currently American Airlines is the only carrier at Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, offering flights to Phoenix and Dallas/Fort Worth.

For travelers, the shift means more choice and potentially lower fares into a city that serves as a gateway to the Grand Canyon, Sedona and other attractions. The new service is still many months off, but with tickets on sale for the August 2027 start, early planners can already see schedules.
