Hyatt Finally Lets Members Gift Points Online, With Six Free Transfers a Year

Modern hotel lobby

World of Hyatt has launched free online points transfers between members. The feature went live on Thursday, October 15, 2026, and replaces an older process that required a form, was not instant and could be used only once every 30 days.

Here is how it works. A member opens the transfer page or the account overview’s gift section, picks an amount with a slider, enters the recipient’s first name, last name, email address and World of Hyatt number, and confirms. Transfers usually post within 24 hours, often almost immediately, though some may go through manual review and take up to 10 business days.

There are limits. Both accounts must have been open at least 60 days. Points move one for one, with a minimum of 1,000 points in 500-point increments and a maximum of 525,000 points per transaction. Each account can send or receive up to 525,000 points per calendar year, and members get six free transfers per calendar year.

The change was promised earlier in 2026 alongside Hyatt’s award chart updates. It applies only between World of Hyatt members and is not a transfer to partner programs. For families and friends who pool points for a shared stay, the new tool makes the process far easier than it used to be.
