Marriott’s City Express Brand Has Finally Landed in India

Modern hotel room with a neatly made bed

Marriott International has opened the first City Express by Marriott in India and South Asia. City Express by Marriott Udaipur Nathdwara Highway, announced on October 13, has 56 guestrooms and sits on NH-58 in Rajasthan between Udaipur and Nathdwara. The brand is new to the region, though it is already established elsewhere in Marriott’s portfolio.

The location is aimed at road travelers and pilgrims. Nathdwara is a major pilgrimage site, and the hotel is about 35 kilometers from Maharana Pratap Airport and 30 kilometers from Udaipur Railway Station. Rooms have high-speed Wi-Fi, workspaces, LED TVs, minibars, electronic safes and USB charging ports.

Guests get an all-day restaurant serving an expanded breakfast with local and international options, plus a fitness center with cardio and strength equipment. The hotel participates in Marriott Bonvoy, so stays earn and redeem points like any other Marriott property. The owner was not named in the announcement.

Marriott’s Cristiano Rinaldi, chief lodging product and services officer for Asia Pacific excluding China, called India an important growth market and said the brand will reach more guests as it expands across the region. No specific pipeline numbers were given, so how fast City Express spreads remains to be seen.
