Delta Air Lines announced on Friday that it will fly daily, nonstop and seasonally between Boston Logan and Keflavík, Iceland, from April 12 through October 30, 2027. Keflavík becomes Delta’s 14th long-haul destination from Boston, and the flight takes about five hours.
It is a second attempt. Delta first served Iceland from New York JFK in June 2011, then launched Boston–Keflavík in May 2021 and ended it that September, according to Cirium data cited by The Points Guy. The new version will use a Boeing 757-200 with Delta’s Premium Select cabin, which has recliner seats rather than the lie-flat beds in Delta One.
The route also says something about Boston’s airline rivalry. JetBlue has long been Delta’s main competitor for the title of top airline at Logan, while American and United each hold a fraction of Delta’s presence. In 2019, JetBlue operated 114,936 Boston flights to Delta’s 80,513, but Delta passed JetBlue in 2023 and has stayed ahead since.
For travelers, the practical takeaway is timing. The service runs only through the warmer months, and Iceland remains a popular stopover for onward Europe trips, so early booking may matter for summer weekends. Check the cabin before you buy: five hours on a recliner is a different experience than a lie-flat transatlantic seat.
