United and Air Canada Just Drew Six New Lines Across the Border

United Airlines and its partner Air Canada are adding six U.S.–Canada routes for summer 2027, a joint expansion that includes a new easternmost Canadian city on United’s map. Three routes are United’s and three are Air Canada’s, which makes the announcement a rare case of two carriers widening the border corridor at once.

United’s additions are seasonal summer service from Newark to St. John’s, Newfoundland, plus flights from Denver to both Ottawa and Quebec City. Start dates for United’s three routes were not included in the details available. St. John’s is the new easternmost point, a gateway to Newfoundland’s coast and icebergs that has long been awkward to reach from the U.S.

Air Canada’s additions have firm dates. Louisville–Toronto Pearson runs from April 28 to October 31, 2027. Indianapolis–Montreal flies daily from June 1 to September 30. Newark–Edmonton operates four times weekly from June 1 to October 17. Aircraft types were not named for any of the six routes.

The pairings favor mid-sized U.S. cities that have had few nonstop options north of the border, notably Louisville, Indianapolis and Denver. Seasonal schedules like these tend to open for sale well ahead of summer, so travelers planning Canadian trips for 2027 can start comparing fares and loyalty options on both airlines now.
